Deep in the Koli Mali Hills of southern India, the horrific practice of infanticide still continues in many of the hidden jungle villages. For centuries is has been common practice for poor families who believe they cannot afford offering a dowry — money or property brought by a bride to her husband at marriage-to abort or kill their infant daughters.
SOME OF THE RESCUED GIRLS
One of the LIOs in this area has been led by God, often at the risk of his own life, to rescue as many of these infants as he can. With no outside support, and living in extreme poverty with his own family, this brave pastor has rescued almost 200 babies over the past few years. While attempting to find homes or families to adopt these children, pastor Kirubakaran and his wife provide 24 hour care for up to 30 children at a time in their own extremely overcrowded and poorly built shelter. In addition, they have planted and continue to lead 7 churches among the jungle villages.
As part of our commitment to support and encourage leaders like this, L.I.O.N. Outreach International is raising funds to build an orphanage for this brave pastor and the children he is rescuing. Through the generous help of many supporters this past year, land for the orphanage has already been purchased. We were also able to provide some sleeping mattresses and toys for the children. With your help, we believe that 2011 will be the year an adequate home can be built for them.
As the L.I.O.N. Outreach International network grows, we also hope develop partner families and organizations to help sponsor the care and support of these rescued children. Please pray about how you and your family will participate in this important mission.
Donation possible through our cause using Network For Good,
a secure way to donate to the children.
